  What I thought would be a straight forward process turned out not to be): Tried 4 different numbers in the end - first went to dead tone; 2nd told me prefix of 0845 needed to be changed to 0345; 3rd was very short n sharp telling me if i wasnt looking for universal credit not right number + gave another number or told to go online; 4th number slightly more effective as managed to voice that my enquiry was to do with being made redundant. Automated response gave yet another number to contact or told to go online ~ and then "Good-bye!" Whatever happened to talking to someone who could direct you to what you need/ take your details and send you the correct form? Apart from alternative phone numbers being repeated no other part of the clearly but quickly delivered message was repeated and there was no option offered to replay. English is my first language and I have a good level of education (+ management skills), and currently the moment money to afford expensive phone calls. Other consumers with less comprehension, or especially less money for extended repetitive phone calls, who may already be in some stress about their circumstances would, in my opinion, come off the phone more frustrated and wondering how to get any direct answers to their enquiry.
